New Faculty at Providence: 2017-2018

Our new building is alive with the hustle and bustle of a record number of new and returning students, and our academic year is in full swing. We are also pleased to welcome four accomplished new faculty members from near and far, including a Providence alumnus and a principal from across the pond. Welcome to Providence!

Secondary Principal | Dr. Simon Mould

Dr. Simon Mould joins Providence after having taught for 20 years in classical Christian education, as well as having been a professor at Northwest University. His academic specialties include modern and world history and international relations.

Dr. Simon has served on various boards of worldview organizations, was the Executive Pastor of LifeBridge Church, and was on leadership at the International Churchill Society. A native Brit, Simon loves returning to his homeland to visit his family and polish his proper English accent.

1st Grade | Miss Kimberly Smith

Kimberly is excited to be teaching first grade at Providence, and to encourage her students in their walk with Christ and in their pursuit of academic achievement. She finds joy in first grade students’ enthusiam for life and their graciousness to one another. Kimberly enjoys spending time with family, being around animals, hunterjumper horsemanship, traveling, camping, and reading. She attends Evergreen Covenant Church.

B.A. in Elementary Education, Northwest University

Math | Mr. Tyler Hatcher

Tyler is a Providence alumnus (2009). His claims to fame from high school are being a senior on Providence’s first high school soccer team and his role as Majick the Mysticat in the play Makebelieve.

After graduation, Tyler continued his education in the Liberal Arts at New Saint Andrews College in Moscow, ID, where he met his lovely wife, Kristina. Following NSA, Tyler worked for a time as a software engineer and then pursued pastoral ministry training at Greyfairs Hall and interned at Trinity Reformed Church in Moscow.

Tyler, Kristina, and their three children moved back to the Seattle area in June 2017. Tyler is working full time with his dad at Trinity Church and teaching math at Providence. Tyler loves to sing, play sports, wrestle with his boys, read, write, date his wife, and learn to see God’s hand in all things.

Latin | Mrs. Wendy Penner

A native to Whidbey Island, Wendy has enjoyed teaching Latin and Humanities in classical Christian schools for several years. She and her husband, Josh, have a son attending Providence, and they are members of Emmanuel Church. As a family, they love reading and going on outdoor adventures together. Wendy is excited to be a part of the Providence community.
