Phase I: Providence Announces Land Purchase!

 

Providence is excited to announce the board’s decision to purchase a parcel of nearly 14 acres of land in Woodinville! This is an answer to generations of prayer. Your financial support is needed to make this dream a reality. 

Imagine stepping foot onto land that your gift purchased for Providence students. Imagine students on this land, strolling between classes laughing with friends, playfully squealing on the playground, competing with ferocity on the athletics field, sitting in quiet moments of prayer under a tree …. This vision needs YOUR gift to reach our goal.

Your gift will go toward a long-term plan of a phased build-out for a full campus for Pre-K – Grade 12. Securing sufficient financial gifts to purchase the land is the first step in the process. The cost of the land is $2.85 million. $900k has been put toward this purchase, making the goal $2 million by December 2024 with total loan repayment due September 2025. Land Purchase Q & A

What are the reasons for this purchase?

Multiple reasons have propelled this decision, with the most important listed below:

  1. Long-term Facility – Our own facility with a full build-out will allow the Providence campus to be viewed by both those inside and outside our community as a center of joyful, robust, and celebratory cultural life.
  2. School Growth and Program Enhancement – Enrollment continues to grow, which makes our current facility untenable for our long-term goal of around 500 students. The long-term plan is for a large playground, a track and field to facilitate expanded recess and athletics programs for all students at all grade levels, and sufficient parking. 
  3. Building Aesthetic – Our goal is to build a school in line with our mission that exudes a classical aesthetic of beauty, transcendence, and timelessness. Additional circulation space will minimize congestion and create open areas that promote learning, contemplation, and conversation.
  4. Community Events and Gym – Due to increased enrollment, we are unable to gather all students in one location in our current campus; a gym will create a place where culture-building community events are frequent: basketball games, drama performances, Grandparents’ Day, assemblies, school-wide Psalm sings, volleyball games, and family balls.
  5. Parking and Infrastructure – Parking is increasingly a major challenge and has already required securing an additional lease for student parking since we are unable to add parking spots in our current facility. Additionally, while our current location is safe and secure (as confirmed by local police who have toured our building), the plan design for our next location allows for a unique buildout of secure and safe property. 
  6. Rent Avoidance – Enrollment growth has required lease of additional space. While we are thankful for this necessary space, our own building would move us to allocating all our financial investment to property we own and control.
How is the school planning to pay for the land?

We have secured a land loan with a local bank, with milestones to pay off the loan by September 2025. The more quickly we can raise our money for the purchase, the more rapidly we can pay down the loan and the more interest money the school will save. 

Couldn’t the school purchase a building adjacent to the current property? 

Even if an adjacent building became available, it would not meet the needs of our future development as a school, including the need for our own field, gym, additional outdoor play space, parking, etc.

Why did the school decide on this property? 

The board has been searching for properties for several years. Other properties we have investigated have proved unworkable for a number of reasons, including cost, space limitations, proximity to our ideal location, and permitting restrictions. This property in Woodinville (Snohomish County) meets all our requirements for our ideal site. 

Where is the property? 

The property is located in Woodinville in Snohomish County. The specific address is 7532 224th St SE, Woodinville, five miles from our current Bothell location. 

Will a new location change the family feel and community we so love about Providence?

Christian culture and community is one of our core distinctives as a school and will remain so. Enrollment currently exceeds 360 students, and our long-term goal is to be around 500 students. We remain intentional about retaining this distinctive, and two classes per grade level allows for the small-school ethos while providing for expansion of program opportunities, communal relationships, and kingdom-building opportunities.

What will we do with the current building? 

We have been blessed by our current location and have been exploring options to sell the building according to a timeline that would correspond to the development of the new site and a move-in date. Until that time, we will continue to utilize our current building. 

What is the timing of the phased plan?

Our phased plan will depend on financial resources. Specific timing for the land purchase will include a 2-year capital campaign with the goal of raising $2 million. Though the plan could change, the phased plan as it currently stands would include four phases:

  • Phase I – Land Purchase
  • Phase II – Classroom building and infrastructure (offices, hallways, etc.)
  • Phase III – Gym and additional classrooms
  • Phase IV – Developed soccer/recess field and track
