Prior to joining Providence, Ryan taught sixth grade for seven years and served as a middle school administrator for five years. Ryan and his wife Maely have three children, two of whom are Providence alumni and one of whom is in the secondary. Ryan’s interests include collecting vintage baseball cards, the music of Rich Mullins, and the writings of Flannery O’Connor, C.S. Lewis, and Dietrich Bonhoeffer. His life-long goals, while admittedly improbable, include hitting a hole-in-one, witnessing a World Series victory for the Seattle Mariners, and adding the great gray owl to his birding life list. His ultimate goals are to be faithful (Colossians 3:17) and to see his children walk in the truth (3 John 3-4).
