At Providence our purpose in athletics is not to bring glory and honor to ourselves, nor is it to seek the praise of man. Rather, we are to pursue excellence because it reflects God’s character. This pursuit is an opportunity to recognize our own sin, to bear the fruit of the Holy Spirit in another activity, to praise God with our total being, and to thank God for how He has made us and what he has provided for us.
Goals for these activities at Providence include praising and honoring Jesus Christ in the manner in which we play and perform, competing at a high level, demonstrating good sportsmanship in victory as well as defeat, and building community.
We expect all students and coaches to model this behavior in victory and defeat. The development of Godly character helps point to the ultimate goal of doing it all in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ and giving thanks to the Father through him (Colossians 3:17).
Through middle school and high school, students have the opportunity to participate in a variety of sports.
