Providence School Uniform Policy 

2007-2008

Our development of a Uniform Policy is driven by a desire to create and promote an environment of learning where dress is not a distraction to the educational process.  Several key principles to keep in mind:

1.       Our goal is to honor God in all we do, acknowledging the Lordship of Jesus Christ in our choices.

2.       All human actions, including outward manifestations such as clothing, reveal and communicate the disposition of the heart.

3.       Clothing represents the vocational calling of student, and inherent in the uniform standards is a desire to create an environment where undue attention is not drawn to specific students.

4.       Expectations differ for boys and girls, and modesty is expected in all manners of dress.  

5.       Parents are expected to actively support school uniform expectations

Uniforms should be clean and in good repair, and students are expected to be in uniform while on the campus unless specified otherwise.  The administration is responsible for the determination of the policy, and the enforcement of the policy is the responsibility of parents, administration, faculty, and staff.

BOYS (Grades K-6) Dress Uniform Days: 

(For specially designated days/Can be worn daily)

• White Oxford long-sleeve shirt (button-down collar). May be purchased at store of choice.
• Navy blue twill pants.  Purchase at Dennis Uniform, Wal-Mart,Target, Sears (Dockers), Toys-R-Us (Lee School Pant Brand). Pant length should be below the ankle.
• Navy or black socks, belt, and black or dark brown dress shoe. May be purchased at store of choice.
• Navy blue tie (clip on or four-in-hand.) Purchased only at Dennis Uniform. 
• Green V-neck cardigan or crew neck sweater or V-neck vest (All with Providence logo.) Purchased only through Dennis Uniform.
• Undershirt (t-shirt) is optional but must be white. 

BOYS (Grades K-6) Daily Attire:

• Green (forest) or white polo shirt or turtleneck; long or short sleeve. Shirts can be purchased at store of choice. No logos on any shirts.
• Navy blue twill pants. Purchase at Dennis Uniform, Wal-Mart, Target, Sears (Dockers), Toys R Us (Lee School Pant Brand). Pant length should be below the ankle.
• Navy or black socks, belt, and a black or dark brown sturdy shoe. No Tennis Shoes.  May be purchased at store of choice.
• Optional Green sweatshirt, polar fleece vest, or polar fleece jacket (All with Providence logo). Purchased only through Dennis Uniform.
• Undershirt (t-shirt) is optional but must be white.
• A pair of lace-up tennis shoes for designated PE days.

BOYS (Grades 7-12):  Dress Uniform Days:

• Tan Khaki pants. Purchase at Dennis Uniform, Wal-Mart, Target or Sears (Dockers).
• Tan socks; tan, brown, or black belt; black or dark brown sturdy dress shoe. No Tennis Shoes.  May be purchased at store of choice.
• Navy blue tie (four-in-hand). Purchased only at Dennis Uniform. 
• Navy Blue V-neck cardigan or crew neck sweater or V-neck vest. (All with Providence logo.) Purchased only through Dennis Uniform.
• Undershirt (t-shirt) is optional but must be white.

BOYS (Grades 7-12):  Daily Attire:

• Navy or white polo shirt or turtle neck; long or short sleeve.  Shirts can be purchased at store of choice.  No logos. (Green polo shirts will no longer be grandfathered in for secondary students)
• Tan Khaki pants. Purchase at Dennis Uniform, Wal-Mart, Target or Sears.
• Tan socks; tan, brown, or black belt; black or dark brown sturdy shoe. No Tennis Shoes.  May be purchased at store of choice.
• Optional navy blue sweatshirt, polar fleece vest, or polar fleece jacket (All with Providence  logo) Purchased only through Dennis Uniform.
• Undershirt (t-shirt) is optional but must be white.

GIRLS (Grades K-6) Dress Uniform Days:

(For specially designated days/Can be worn daily)

• Black Watch plaid jumper or skirt. Purchased only from Dennis Uniform.
• White Peter Pan blouse, long sleeve only.  May be purchased at store of choice.  No edging or lace on collar or cuff.
• Green crew neck cardigan or crew or V-neck vest (All with Providence logo.) Purchased only through Dennis Uniform.
• Black or dark brown, sturdy dress shoe. No Tennis Shoes.  Purchased at store of choice.
• Navy Tights ONLY (No black, white, etc.).  

GIRLS (Grades K-6) Daily Attire:

• Navy blue skirt, jumper or navy blue skort.  All purchased only from Dennis Uniform.
• Black Watch skirt or jumper.  All purchased only from Dennis Uniform.
• Green or white, polo shirt or turtle neck; long or short-sleeve. Shirts can be purchased at store of choice.  No logos.  No edging or lace on collars.
• White Peter Pan blouse, long or short-sleeve.  Blouse can be purchased at store of choice.  No logos.  No edging or lace on collars.
• Navy or white socks or tights. Black or dark brown, sturdy shoe. No tennis shoes.  Purchased at store of choice.
• Optional dark green sweatshirt, polar fleece vest, or polar fleece jacket (All with Providence logo) purchased only through Dennis Uniform.
• A pair of lace-up tennis shoes for designated PE days.

GIRLS (Grades 7-12) Dress Uniform Days:

• Black Watch plaid skirt. Purchased only from Dennis Uniform.
• White, pointed collar, long-sleeve blouse only (not short sleeve). Purchased only from Hall Closet.
• Navy Blue crew neck cardigan or crew or V-neck vest.  (All with Providence  logo.) Purchased only through Dennis Uniform.
• Black or dark brown, sturdy dress shoe. Heel height must not exceed 3". No Tennis Shoes.  Purchased at store of choice.
• Navy Tights ONLY (No black, white, etc.)

GIRLS (Grades 7-12) Daily Attire:

• Black Watch plaid or khaki skirt.  Purchased only from Dennis Uniform.
• Navy or white polo shirt or turtleneck, long or short sleeve. Shirts can be purchased at store of choice. No logos.  No edging or lace on collars. (Green polo shirts will no longer be grandfathered in for the secondary students.)
• White or navy blue socks or tights.
• Black or dark brown, sturdy dress shoe. Heel height must not exceed 3". No Tennis Shoes.  Purchased at store of choice.
• Optional-Navy Blue sweatshirt, polar fleece vest, or polar fleece jacket (All with Providence logo) purchased only through Dennis Uniform.  

Additional Requirements:

• Jumpers and skirts must be at or below the knee at all times throughout the school year. Jumpers and skirts fitting above the knee should be altered to adhere to school policy.
• Please label all your uniform items with your last name.
• Over garments other than uniform sweater, sweatshirt, or uniform polar fleece vest or jacket may not be worn in the school/classroom but may be worn outside at recess.
• Pants must fit at the waist and be worn at the natural waistline (no saggy or droopy pants).
• Shirts must be tucked in at all times.
• Hair for all students should be of natural color only, neat, clean, and modest in style and appearance. Boys may not dye or highlight their hair. 
• No hats should be worn inside the building.
• Hair ornaments are allowed for the girls and should be tasteful.
• Girls may have a single post/stud earring per ear.  Boys may not have earrings.  No other pierced jewelry or tattoos may be worn.  Modesty is expected.
• Girls may wear necklaces tucked inside shirt.
• No necklaces on boys.
• Boys must wear a belt daily.
• Undershirts (t-shirts) worn under uniforms must be white (no colors).
• Long-sleeved shirts may not be worn rolled up.
• Pant and skirt lengths should be altered when necessary to conform to the uniform policy.
