Karen came to Providence to teach Kindergarten in the year 2000.  At that time her twin boys were in her first class and her oldest son was in first grade.  Today they are active secondary students.

Karen has a degree in Elementary Education from Washington State University and a Masters degree in Education from Seattle Pacific University.  She for six years she taught an enrichment program for grades two through six, and then fourth grade for one year prior to teaching at Providence.

She resides in Woodinville with her husband, Jay, and three boys, Harrison, Bryce and Chad.  The Hummels attend Trinity Church in Kirkland where Mr. Hummel serves as a deacon.

Karen enjoys church activities, time with family and friends, jogging, biking, reading and going for walks with her husband.
