Ad hoc board meeting, 4:30pm, Friday, 7/22/05

Members in attendance: Steve Schaefer (chair); Gordon England (vice chair); Eric Boston (secretary)

Not in attendance: Mike Castle (treasurer); Marty Shaw

Guests: Mike Adair

 

:: Mr. Schaefer opened with scripture (2 Corinthians 1), and prayer

 

:: Presentation by Mike Adair:

  1. presented all families up to now that have given notice that they are leaving the school
  2. possible other families that will be leaving the school

  1. presentation of figures for the new budget

:: Board/Adair discussion of financial and short-term school planning

 

> A motion was made (EB) to bring Dave Hatcher back from sabbatical for 3 months

Motion was 2nd (GE)

Discussion. Vote. Aye's have it. Steve will go to the EEF Session (Elder meeting) to make the request

 

> A motion was made (GE) to hold a meeting on Monday night, July 25, at 7:30pm at Providence. It will be a meeting with all high school families to discuss the budgetary concerns of the school and the possible need to close part of the school.

Motion was 2nd (EB)

Discussion. Vote. Aye's have it.

 

:: Action item: Communications to school families:

-          phone calls to all high school families about the meeting on Monday night.

-          There will be an email to all high school families to notify of the Monday night meeting

-          Also, an email will be sent to all families about Mr. Shaw and Mr. Castle's departure from the school

 

:: Meeting adjourned at 9:50pm, closed in prayer.

 

 

Post-meeting addendum:

Friday, July 22, 10:45pm

 

Phone conversation with Mr. Adair, board decides to cancel school meeting, in light of new information about families at the school. No emails will be sent out, and no phone conversations regarding the meeting will be held.
