The Rhetoric School

The Student

Rhetoric students at Providence Classical Christian School range from tenth to twelfth grade.  This age is characterized by a mature excitement about learning that tends to be more reflective. The rhetoric student begins to see the information he once learned by rote and analyzed using logic and reason as more than facts to be coldy interacted with.  Rather, the information becomes a tool for him to use to better understand the world around him and interact with others. The Rhetoric student's education culminates in the senior thesis.  This thesis involves a presentation and public defense before select faculty.

The Teacher

The Providence Rhetoric Staff aims to develop the Rhetoric student to take what they understand and communicate it more clearly, persuasively and beautifully.  The staff exposes the student to the formal study of Rhetoric and expects the student to improve in writing and develop oral presentation skills in all the classes.

Discipline

While discipline, order and decorum are still important elements to maintain in the classroom, students are encouraged to express their thoughts and opinions in a wide variety of formats.  The Rhetoric faculty seek to draw out individual student strengths and develop their weaknesses.  The school uniform of the Logic and Rhetoric students changes at seventh grade to emphasize the shift to this higher learning phase.
