The Grammar School

The Student

Grammar level at Providence Classical Christian School spans kindergarten to sixth grade.  This age group is characterized by their enthusiasm toward learning new and interesting facts.  The grammar student enjoys games, stories, songs and projects.  Because of their strong language assimilation skills they easily memorize grammar, history, Latin and science chants and songs.  Grammar students are very imaginative and creative - they want to touch, taste, feel, smell and see while they learn.

The Teacher

The Providence Grammar Faculty aims at teaching this age group through a variety of methods appropriate to their students' ages and frames including singing, chanting, recitations, writing, acting, drawing, painting, and building.  Presentations, drama, hearing/reading/telling stories and field trips are some of the other techniques used to reinforce coursework.

Discipline

Consistent discipline is essential to adequately ensure the grammar student enjoys the opportunity to learn in an orderly classroom environment.  Conduct and discipline policies are thoroughly covered in the Parent Handbook.  The children wear uniforms to emphasize unity and avoid the distraction that some clothing choices often create.  The desirable classroom size ranges from 16 to 20 students to ensure that our faculty are able to work closely with their students and learn their special character traits and personalities.
